Storm Chasers Beware!
No one likes "Roofer" Storm Chasers. Local actual contractors don't, homeowners don't once they find out their warranty is non-existent once they move on, property owners that have their funds stolen don't, authorities don't, local carrier adjusters don't.
There's not many Public Adjusters locally. Most of those depend on roofers and contractors to feed them work, where I don't! They're willing to throw a blind eye to your illegal activities, where I no longer will. From property owners to local contractors, this year I have heard more complaints across the board than all the years I have been licensed. I have played nice for years. I am done playing. Go look at TN Code §56-6-902 8 (i) & (iii). Now go look at TN Code §62-6-605. Daily, you are impersonating a licensed Public Adjuster(me). You can not solicit a claim, advise the need for a claim, aid or assist in the claims process per TN define of a licensed Public Adjuster.
This is the most important thing you need to comprehend from this section: Under the Tennessee Consumer Protection’s Act (TCPA) of 1977, engaging in unfair (soliciting claims when not being a truly licensed Public Adjuster) or deceptive acts (aids or assists on behalf of the insured not being a licensed Public Adjuster) or practices in trade or commerce is a Class B Misdemeanor. This act aims to protect consumers and businesses from such practices.
I'm fighting to end you taking advantage of homeowners or just plain flat out making them mad. I'm fighting for the local contractors. Why am I doing this? Simply because I have the license to do so. If you want to end up in handcuffs, keep doing what you are doing! I have had 2 local jurisdictions advise they can choose to either cite you to court or flat out arrest you. I'm out daily looking for you.
I personally have had many adjusters agree that this is business, and not personal. They are told what to do and when to do it. Getting results never changes for us. If your policy has the coverage, we are willing to fight for you and your interests. We do not allow ourselves to be bullied by a carrier adjuster. They may have their company policies and procedures to follow. We have the policy coverage and ethics we must follow. We don't like when things get aggressive, but claims go there from time to time. There is typically a large sum of money involved. They are trying to keep from paying, and I am trying to take it for you!
